Change Delivery Country
Customers can change the delivery country directly on the Checkout page without navigating away.
When a new delivery country is selected, the page refreshes to reflect the new country’s shipping, duties, and taxation (D&T) policies. This feature supports cross-border commerce by accommodating country-specific shipping and taxation policies and the updated delivery country’s regulations. Customers remain on the checkout page throughout the process, maintaining continuity.
Note
Merchants that hold separate sites for different countries (subdomains or different folders) do require additional configurations on the platform side.
Examples
International Shoppers: A customer shopping from the U.S. decides to send their order to a relative in Canada. They can seamlessly change the delivery country to Canada within the checkout page, with prices and taxes updating accordingly.
Multi-National Merchants: Merchants operating in multiple regions can provide a unified shopping experience by enabling country changes without redirecting customers.
Disable Countries from Use
Merchants can choose to disable specific countries as shipping destinations and billing addresses
This feature removes the risk of a merchant conducting business with a country under sanctions. It also allows merchants to disable countries that it prefers not to ship to, even if they are allowed by Global-e.
Banned countries
Countries classified as “banned” by Global-el no longer appear in the billing address section or as shipping destinations. These countries are automatically restricted, and merchants cannot override this setting.
Merchant-Defined Inactive Countries
Merchants can mark specific countries as “Inactive,” even if Global-e permits them.
Inactive countries are excluded from billing and shipping address options and do not appear in the country switcher or welcome popups.
Registered Users in Inactive Countries
For users with addresses in an inactive country, the address fields will be cleared. These users will be prompted to provide valid inputs during their next interaction.
