# Order status SFTP fallback

<Warning>
  This is an **optional** feature. It ships in the Global-e SFCC cartridges but is **not active by default**. It requires **enablement on the Global-e side** (contact **Global-e Merchant Support** first) **and** SFCC Business Manager setup (SFTP service, job site flows, schedule). Do not enable the SFCC job until Global-e has confirmed SFTP export for the merchant.

When the live **`Globale-OrderUpdateStatus`** webhook cannot deliver a status change (merchant outage, rate limit, network error, and so on), Global-e can optionally write the same status payload to an SFTP folder. The SFCC job **GlobaleOrderStatusFallback** downloads those files and applies the updates, with deduplication against updates already received via webhook.

## Prerequisites

| Side | Required |

| Global-e | SFTP export path enabled for the merchant; shared SFTP folder and credentials provisioned; `OrderStatusUpdateTime` included in payloads used for dedup |
| SFCC | Cartridge version that includes the fallback job; metadata import; SFTP download credential; one job flow per Global-e site; schedule enabled only after validation |

## What merchants get

* Durable recovery when the webhook fails or is delayed
* Same status-apply behaviour as the live webhook (including cancellation / completed transitions where supported)
* No double-application when the webhook later succeeds (shared `OrderStatusUpdateTime` dedup)

## What merchants do not need to change

* No storefront customization is required for the OOTB path
* The live webhook remains the primary channel; the job is complementary
