# Requirements

## SFCC Compatibility Mode

Global-e cartridges **require** SFCC Digital Compatibility Mode **17.7 or newer**.

Current cartridges rely on CommonJS features available only from 17.7 onward:

* `wildcard` imports — `require('*/...')`
* `module.superModule` for cartridge extension

Upgrade **all** environments (sandbox, development, staging, and production) to Compatibility Mode 17.7 before installing or upgrading Global-e cartridges.

### Older compatibility modes

If your instance runs a compatibility mode **older than 17.7** (including versions between 15.5 and 17.6), contact **Global-e Merchant Support**. Global-e may provide additional materials for legacy integration modes.

  Account Manager / OCAPI Data API (new integrations)

New Global-e SFCC integrations must provision a **dedicated** Account Manager API client and grant it **Data** OCAPI permissions so Global-e can keep SFCC configuration aligned (including starting configuration sync such as **GlobaleSettings**, and reading Global-e custom objects, related site preference groups, and product information).

Do not reuse a Shop / headless OCAPI client for this purpose. Setup steps, the required resource JSON, and what to share with Global-e are in [Configuration → Data API](/configuration-sfcc#data-api-mandatory-for-new-integrations). The repository template is `metadata/ocapi-settings/wapi_data_config.json`.

## Development tooling

When building or uploading cartridges from the repository (not required for BM-only configuration):
