This chapter documents Global-e capabilities that are not enabled by default. Each one ships in the Global-e cartridges as ready-to-use functionality plus a demo implementation, but requires explicit configuration — and usually some project-specific code — before it can be used in production. Use this section after the core integration (Setup, Storefront, Pricing and promotions, Checkout and orders) is in place.

How these features fit together

  • Alternative payments — Gift Cards, Native Gift Certificates, and Loyalty Points Cards share the same provider/strategy framework under int_globale/cartridge/scripts/globale/alternativePayments/ and the same Validate / Redeem / Refund request flow on the Global-e checkout. The demo implementations are based on SFCC custom objects and are meant to be replaced with a real provider.
  • Order creation variants — Mixed Orders and Pay By Link change how and when the SFCC order is created. They are mutually exclusive: Pay By Link works only with single orders.
  • Architecture — Commerce API support is required for headless storefronts and builds on the int_globale_headless cartridge and the OCAPI/SCAPI site preferences described in Configuration.
  • Resilience — Bonus Products fallback is part of the order-creation failover story. Order status SFTP fallback recovers inbound status updates when the live webhook fails (optional; Global-e must enable SFTP export for the merchant).
  • Catalog visibility — Restricted / forbidden products controls where products can be searched, recommended, and purchased per shipping country. The restriction data itself is imported by the default GlobaleProducts job; the storefront exclusion (search, suggestions, PDP) is what you opt into here.
  • U.S. customs compliance — MID Support supplies manufacturer identification metadata on SendCart for qualifying shipments to the United States via the globale.getPLICustomMetadata hook.
  • Checkout vouchers without coupons — Checkout discount vouchers map Global-e voucher codes to session-gated SFCC promotions for checkout-only discounts (for example payment-method provider codes). Only percentage discounts are supported by the Global-e service.

Customization and reference

Most of these features expose Global-e custom hooks (globale.*). Hook arguments and return values are documented once, in the Hooks reference; the pages here link to the relevant hooks rather than repeating them. Site preferences and custom object types are catalogued in the Metadata reference.
